When subjected to thermal shock, glass can sometimes break. This occurs when 2 areas of glass vary greatly in temperature. For example, if part of a window pane is fully exposed to sunlight while another part is cooling in the shadows, the sun-facing part expands while the shadow-immersed part contracts, causing a fissure and glass breakage, known as thermal shock.

Since it usually occurs during the first year following installation, Vimat offers a one-year warranty against thermal shock. See our certificate of warranty for more details.
